Introduction

TrekHaus
is a site net-zero energy passive house duplex project in the Sunnyside neighborhood of SE Portland.

Who is behind the TrekHaus Project?  Ella Wong and Randy Hayslip

Design and Build Team:  Robert Hawthorne, Architect and PDX Living, LLC, in collaboration with Willamette Valley Remodeling (Bart Bergquist).  This is the  same team that built the CoreHaus, the 1st certified Passive House in Portland and 2010/2011 Northwest Energy Star Home of the Year.  If you'd like to see how Rob and Bart built the CoreHaus, see their  presentation from the Passive House Northwest 2010 Summer Meeting,  "Real Life Lessons:  Passive House Design and Construction", (attached at the bottom of the page).

Why the name TrekHaus?  Ella's a long-time geek and Star Trek fan.  She can't get that "to boldly go where no one has gone before" theme out of her head.  When Randy, by chance, discovered THE building site in Sunnyside, that Star Trek theme (music and all) came to mind.  For Ella and Randy, this project is sort of a bold adventure- not into the final frontier of space, but a "down to earth" trek towards a sustainable future.  Want to come along?
